January 2012

HAPPY new yearr to all,I have not updated blog since November so now Wmas out of the way I will try to remember all thats happened since the last entry.

Titch and I had a David Hunt lesson in December which was great although quite a hike, but it was worth the long drive, it was great to know the he thought our two horses were fab.

Zorb won his last two elys at begining of December, very pleased wth him at Merrist Wood and he has had well deserved break over Xmas. He is now back in work, just trying to decide what to do next, Elementry Pet Plan this year or go to the Ely Regionals, not sure yet. will, let you know what we decide.

Sam is  going really well for Titch and he is getting ready for his Pet Plan Competiton at Hartbury, its so exiting.

His buying and selling horse Hetti went to Ange on the yard so good luck to them, hetti such a super star can’t see there being any problems, Ange will give her a wonderfull home, looking forward to them competing.

Caroline has bought Bleu from us, and I am so pleased, she loves her to bits, and Caroline looks so good on her, many a good tests to come i think.

George has been out on Sox and they are really doing well , she also came to Matt Hicks for a dressage lesson with izzy , look at me converting the show jumpers to dressage!

George did go out with Dilly last wk to attempt a 1metre 30 but someone fell off and it was taking so long she came home, next time maybe, to big for me to watch, scarey.

Nat  unfortunately fell off Apollo,  but this time it was the builders fault, making noise in the bushes, Hudson galloped off followed by Apollo bucking. So ambulance called, luckily she had no broken bones, just pulled her ligaments, so she is on the mend.

We have two new liverys, Amy with the stunning stallion Jasper and Piglet, and Alison with Clarke, both seemed to have settled in fine, our yard is very busy and loads going on so can be quite intimidating. Horses all love it, Jasper loves his special fort nox paddock, Clarke likes being out as much as pos, Alison wants to qualify for Pet Plan so there is a goal.

Finally Nicky took Bella out for the first time today, Priory Dressage, just a walk trot test but the mare was outstanding , never spooked or looked at the arena once, so Nicky very impressed, like us all, as we all get older thats what we want sane horses, to old for all that naughty stuff, i say.

Lianne tried a Prelim on Hudson, he was well behaved, so thats the main thing with him, he does not have the name Satan for nothing.

Think thats all, looking forward to the Debby and Jo clinics, and Matt has said he will come over to do another clinic, so look out for those dates. speak soon

October

Firstly, our holiday to Lanzarote with Kim and Brian was fabulous, just what we all needed, apart from the flying, but I did have me old tablets, so not too bad.

Show-wise, there have been a few Dressage competitions. Sarah and Shauna went out while I was away and did ok. Caroline, Sarah and I went to Snowball Farm, only been there yrs ago eventing, so nice to go back, all had a good day, watching the girls was good for me and they now have their homework. I must  say, Georgie excelled herself while I was away, coping with the yard dogs and liveries, even Tubby my Westie was ill and she coped with that. I suppose its a good way to throw her in the deep end - makes me very proud of her.

Sold our two new buying and selling horses, both went to the same home, so that was good, three more coming in, two mares and one gelding, so fingers crossed they are as nice as Cella and Ardy were. Jenny sold reg to Penny on the yard, and Harley was sold to a great home near Merrist Wood, perfect home, so that was the best outcome, good luck to Jen, sure she will still pop in from time to time.

Have decided to do a dressage series on the yard so everyone is looking forward to that, so look out for pics and the overall winner!

Clinic-wise we had Debbie out twice in October, and Jo out once , oh and Nat took Apollo to a Matt Hicks lesson.

September Part 2

September here we go, if i can remember all that has happened.

Jo Swain clinic was very hard but fabulous, she took no prisoners this time but we all enjoyed it. She will be back in October and we have Debbie  out on the 5th October and the 27th. I am actually away on holiday for the first one but Debbie is kindly schooling Zorb for me which I know she loves. Just waiting for new date with Matt Hicks  and we are looking forward to it.

Well my area festival at Patchets went Okish apart from departing from the arena and treading treading on the boards, we still finished 5th so can’t complain, we did not qualify for the ely but never mind, try again nex year.

Shauna has yet another new horse Dobby identical to Dudley but he is bigger 17 hands now at 4.! Mind you so is Henry my new one, big but sensible hopefully. Jenny has decided to sell Reg due to family life which is sad but necessary so any one looking for school master look no further.

The girls went out today for the first time, Stacey, Alice, Michelle, Becka and Ellie all went to a dressage show at Merrist Wood, and what a day, they were all fantastic, only walk and trot but they all made me proud, many more to come I think, poor parents more money.

Our new horses for sale will soon be on web site Ardy 15.2 gelding by Gareeb a really smart little horse  and Ceely a 15.3 mare ex brood mare, she is gorgeous easy and safe as well as youngsters can be.

September

So much has gone on the last few wks ,I don’t know where to start, dressage and clinics are all going well with the Matt Hicks clinic was superb, all the girls loved his lessons, so easy to get on with and makes everything is so simple,  so watch out for more dates for him as long as we did not scare him off!

The Area Festival went well and Titch qualified for the Prelim and Novice, with me qualifying for the Novice , failed in my attempt for the elementary but going to Patchets to try again so fingers crossed.  Kim Maloney won my class, so proud as last year she was not even riding, now look at her, she is such an inspiration, a real get  up and go person.

Georgie took Sox to Hickstead and jumped round the 1 metre, which was huge she was very pleased with him as it was very big and he only had 2 down.

The Wales trip went ok and horses and girls all enjoyed themselves, apart from lack of flat work, we noticed , so they have been letting us grill them on the flat sinc e we got back and yes they will love it.

We have sold Fly the little black irish horse to Ellie who shares Molly with her sister, so good luck to her, he has found the best home ever, a real good partnership there I think.  Izy one of the grooms wants Bleu so is trying to sell her lorry to buy her, bless, i must say she does ride her really well, and yes she will be doing dressage as well as show jumping.

Just off next wk to look at a few more horses to sell on, we have a few customers waiting, which is good, so we have our shopping list. We have a new livery in Chloe and Big Billy, both seem to have settled in well. Chloe has just gone to Ireland to find a youngster,so good luck to her.

Jo swain is out on the 17 September and Debbie Lush on the 5th october. Titch did do a jumping clinic a few wks ago, everyone enjoyed it, and we got some good action shots for the thrills and spills section, a few falls i mean.

Big good luck to lucy and charlie who are going to the nationals 15th September, hopefully we can get to watch them, Charlie is a welsh mare we sold a few yrs ago and lucy kindly let me no how well she has done, so again good luck to them both.

We all had day out at dressage at Merrist Wood, all doing well and eventually getting Caroline and Billybob to a show, last time out about 9 months ago ithink, so well done to her for going.well speak soon and pictures or new pics to follow x

July Part 2

A quick catch up on what went on in July.A big Thank You to all the get well messages it’s very touching all the support we have had. Titch has been recovering well from his heart attack, doing lots of riding and also looking for some new horses to sell on.Everything at the yard is going well, the Jo Swain clinic day was full and we all learnt lots as usual, we also have a matt Hicks clinic on the 17th august which we are all excited about. Titch is going over for a lesson with him next week his first outing since his you know what. Sarah and Tonto did very well at Fair Oak with an impressive 67% so only needs to do another test with a score over 62% for her Novice Area Festival qualifier. Hester has gone away with Paint Pot to Addington for the side saddle show, she is doing the fancy dress and poor old paint is going as an ambulance! Pictures will be soon in the gallery. Ange has just started jumping Arthur and are doing very well, she is already planning her first show good on ya girl, of course I will be watching. Stacey has bought my beloved Chester from me and I wish them all the best, she is going to have so much fun with him, he has already thrown all her jumpers everywhere bless him, he cant help it. Good luck Chester and Stacey. Fly and Bleu are now ready for sale, Fly is going to make a stunning Eventer he has such a fab temperament and very bold jumping. Bleu is amazing, paces to die for and not mareish in anyway , what more do you want, I don’t say this often but think she might go quite  far up the old dressage ladder, must find her the best home though, special girl that one. Harry who I sold a few months ago went to his first show and came first in the most handsome gelding, how sweet is that.

Last but not least our wedding. Well the sun was shining and all went superb, the meal in the evening at the Barleymow was crowded but great. I think every one enjoyed themselves, thanks to all who came we had a fabulous day, and of course pics to follow.

July

Well where do we start with all the news at Hungerford this month, first of the news of Titch and his recovery from his heart attack, i would like like to say a big thank you to all our friends who have offered help and support to our family over the last few wks, it has been overwhelming, loads of help for the yard but funny enough no one wanted to ride Sam for him though there,s a shocker. Titch does seem to be recovering slowly and the only good thing is he has given up smoking so fingers crossed

As for the normal horse and yard things , we all had a good day with Jo swain yesterday she was fab as usual, Debbie Lush is out next at the weekend so all looking forward to that.

Georgie took Sox out few wks ago for the first time. He jumped round clear so she is taking him to wales in August with Izy and Mo.Titch and i will be going to support her for the 3 days - oh deep joy 3 days of show jumping.

Hester and Clare have been out doing le Trec which they both enjoyed and they came 5th in the level 1 pairs.

Zorba now has his Area Festival qualification for Novice and Elementry , and just had my music done by Anna Ross Davies, so Caroline and I will soon be going out and trying our luck at music, cant wait.

Titch qualified for the regionals at Novice but due to his health issues he will be unable to compete, but we are sure he will try again when he is back on form.

Shauna and Dudley came first at the Basildon Show in the working hunter so she is well pleased with her boy, well done to them both onwards and upwards, she now has to crack her canter on ruby and she will be well away.Anne took Pilgrim as well but bless she said he was a bit naughty, not been out enough i think so better next time. Denise with Rhino came 5th in the dressage so well done to them.

Thats about all ( think its enough for one month)apart from Georgina leaving end of this month to go to Merrist Wood College we will all miss her, oh and she done her first Affiliated Novice on Sonic coming a respectable 7th,  she was really pleased.

If we have forgotten anything i’m sure Iwill remember and put it in next month

June

Titch and Same came a respectable 11th at the Premier League Young Horse at Wellington. It was a first for us and really pleased with the result.

Di and Titch have 2 new horses, a lovely Irish mare called Bleu and another racehorse called Fly. Both are proving to be really nice talented horses and will soon to be ready to be sold.

April/May

We had 2 brilliant clinics with Jo Swain and Debbie Lush, they must have a lot of patience putting up with us every month!!

We have loaned one of the racehorses, Dusty to Michelle as Ned she was sharing has left the yard. She is turning into a really nice little horse.

Hester arranged a Western lesson at the yard, really interesting to see how another style of riding is done. It was fun to watch them trying to neck rein around the school and crashing into each other.

Shauna has a new horse a lovely chestnut mare called Ruby, think it will take a while to be able to sit to her huge canter!!

Di and Charlotte were picked for the Inter regional teams and they came just out of the placings. A very successful trip.

Tash has brought a new horse, a huge Shire X. He is 16hh already and he is only a year old and does not look as though he ready to stop growing.

Di & Caroline had a fantastic day with Anna Ross-Davies who has sorted out thier music and also floor plan - watch this space we will going out to our first competion soon.

Izy took her mare Mo out after her intestive course of dressage at the yard and came 1st in SJ and also placed in dressage -  all the hard work has paid off.

Di and Georgina have started to have lessons with Matt Hicks and they love it. He is very down to earth and very helpful.

Caroline has a new horse as she sold Dennis to a lovely new home. Zak is stunning Welsh D, he is only 3 but is already proving to be safer to ride than Billy.

Anne,Tash and Georgina had a brilliant photo shoot with Centaur Photography,  the pictures were beautiful and worht taking a look at on their website.

March

March proved to be another busy month with lots happening. Jo Swain’s clinic was fab, we are all improving so that was excellent news. Our hard work is paying off!!

Claire and Hester went to a local Riding Club - Tilford - for a showjumping clinic which they both thoroughly enjoyed and are going back for another session of pole work.

Andrew Gould did another clinic at the yard which was a brilliant day, Andrew and Jo’s lessons are very inspiring and they remember all of us ‘mere mortals’ ( think we are hard to forget)

Our 2 new guard dogs have arrived and are settling in well, taking up loads of our time . Spike is Lab X Rottie and Bruno is pure Rottie, its nice to have 2 large dogs around the yard.

We have managed to sell a few of the race horses to really good homes and just have a couple left that will need a bit more training. Carolines race horse Denis is proving to be a super little horse whose favourite pace is standing still - no wonder he did not do very well racing.

Di did really well in her first Elementary tests on Zorba, finishing 4th & 5th so she really pleased and could not ask for anything more. She has also bought an unbroken KWPN as a project to bring on, Georgie has already sat on him so fingers crossed Sox will stay calm. Introducing him to Di’s herd was rather interesting but he does not seem to mind being at the bottom of the pecking order.

Tash completed her Medium on Ming, they did extremely well for their  first test and are now booked in their next test end of April.

Our new livery Natalie has arrived with her mare Anna Gee and they are getting settled into our hectic yard.

Georgi came 2nd in her first dressage competition on Dilly with 67% - our plan to turn her into a dressage rider is working!!!

I am sure there will be even more excitement in the coming months as we are all arranging which competitions/shows to go to.

Hello!
